Asmita Parv Celebrations with Scintillating AAMRAPALI BALLET by JAYAPRADA..."
On Chaitra Shukla Purnima, i.e., the full-moon day of March-April, Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated every year all over India, the prominent one being in a small district of Gujarat. A three day function designated "Asmita Parva" was held to celebrate the birth-anniversary of Hanuman, the son of the wind-god Marut and Anjana Devi, with great religious fervour.

The three days function was held under the gracious guidance of Shri Murari Bapu. Born in a non-descript village Talgajarda of Gujarat, this savant has earned the love and reverence of innumerable men and women, transcending the narrow walls of caste, creed and community by his child like simplicity, humility and compassion marking the character of one who is spiritually oriented. Based on the life of Gandhi, the greatest name in modern India, Murari Bapu has created and sang two ballads at 'Dandi' and 'Sabarmati' while the third one is being planned at 'Rajghat'.

Every night was excelled by classical singing and dance by some eminent name from the world of Indian Classical Music. On the first evening, famous classical singer from Patiyala Gharana Pt Ajoy Chakraborty and her daughter Kaushiki Desikan Chakraborty gave their fabulous performance. Only adding to the grace of the first evening the famous Grammy award winner Pt. Vishwamohan Bhatt kept his audience spell-bound by his performance on the second day.

Moving ahead with "Asmita" celebrations we had the Rajya Sabha member and renowned dancer Jayaprada performing on the third evening. She received huge applause for her splendid rendering of "Amrapalli Ballet" which was watched by more than 5000 people. The ballet lasted for 2 hours and had the audience with their eyes glued to the stage in a sort of hypnosis.

On 13th of April the recital of special prayers was done by Shri Murari Bapu, who also honored the four figures of legendary fame from the world of Classical Music by giving them each Rs 1.25 Lacs. Those who received these awards were the famous Kathak dancer Pt. Birju Maharaj, the renowned Shehnai player Ustad Bismilla Khan, the famous Tabla Player Pt Kishan Maharaj and Pt. Bhimsen Joshi famous from Kirana Gharana. In the field of music this is, today the highest monetary award ever given to an Indian Artiste. On this occasion Shri Murari Bapu said that no amount of money can evaluate these precious jewels of art and that a person can attain such heights only by perseverance, unwavering dedication towards music and by the grace of god.

He has also sent his good wishes to all the countrymen on this auspicious occasion of Hanuman Jayanti.
